Bexley - the suburb of Childcare buildings. Forget about the established trees housing birdlife just bulldoze them and build more childcare centres.

Really? Has the applicant done their homework?
There is a new Childcare centre being built in Highworth Avenue, just near McDonalds, a new 90 place centre in The Plaq building at 8-18 Stoney Creek Road Bexley, an approved one in Donnan Street opposite Bexley Oval, there is an application for another one in Oriental Street Bexley this is apart from the established ones, Rye Avenue Bexley, Preddy's Road Bexley, Mimosa Street Bexley, Gladstone Street Bexley, 2 in Glenfarne Street, one already in Queen Victora Street plus Jack and Jill Pre School.
This is just a list of the close ones, some within a 5 - 10minute walking distance.

Your right.
This ugly concrete box was finished months ago.
Yet ANOTHER money making development that has ruined the neighbourhood.

Hasn't this development already happened and been completed? It looks like people are already living in the new dwellings. I'm a little confused.

Re: DA-2022/421

https://eplanning.bayside.nsw.gov.au/ePlanning/Pages/XC.Track/SearchApplication.aspx?id=412200

It currently states that the above DA-2022/421 has been "AMENDED" and that these Amended Plans are now open for public comment until 12th December 2023.

Unfortunately I cannot see ANY of these so called amendments!!!

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could advise me as to what is going on?

Kind Regards,
Paula

Yet another concrete box sub division for our poor old suburb.
Rockdale is looking more like the gaza strip every day.

Review of Determination of DA-2022/373 for demolition of the existing structures and construction of an attached dual occupancy

If dual occupancy is allowed on every block of the same size in this quite street parking will become even more difficult. We often have our driveway blocked. Although a more pleasant design this time with the structure looking more like a standard double storey building and not the mirror image cut down the middle.

Craig..appreciate your reply. You’ve provided more information than the council (with all due respect to council )

Alterations and additions to an existing dwelling

Hello Todd.
Not either.
Im just well versed on the subject now.
I live near LeStrange park & a heap of developers are now building duplexes in my st. I had to learn a lot quickly when a DA was lodged for duplex for nextdoor.

But yes, for a Complying development, you just lodged your application with council or use a private certifier (this is the best option) and as long as everything meets standard, your application is fast tracked and passed without neighbours being informed. The first they find out is when work normally starts.
There are a few street within the flight path that Complying development can’t be lodged and development application is the only processes. But this is all subjected to the type of work being carried out.

Good luck

Hi Craig,

Todd/Helen
Neighbours are not informed when an application is lodged under a Complying & Development

Complying development is a combined planning and construction approval for straightforward development that can be determined through a fast-track assessment by a council or an accredited certifier. Complying development applies to homes, businesses and industry and allows for a range of things like the construction of a new dwelling house, alterations and additions to a house, new industrial buildings, demolition of a building, and changes to a business use.

I dont like it either, but them the rules.

Totally agree with Todd. Why were we not informed? Basically this is saying I can add an extension to my property without getting pre approval from council?? Works need to be ceased until plans viewed and if required disputed. Thank you

Hi,
Can you pls tell me why there was no notification of this prior to alterations starting? This notice should have been given to all neighbours prior to starting which we all noticed have started already!

Amended Complying Development Certificates _ Modifications to approved demolition of existing structures, construction of a new storey dwelling with basement and pool

More loss of character in the area. When will these homes be preserved? They are built better and have lasted 100 years and are still fine. I don’t think you can say that about the cheap houses they build today

Another truly evil heritage destroying application from yet another greedy developer. When will bayside council learn that approving developments like this is decreasing the quality of life in the area?

Others have raised the issue of loss of greenery. As a "tree conscious greenie", I'd much rather lose some trees to an infill development than see another lot's worth of native habitat bulldozed for a new detached house, in a fringe suburb where car dependency intensifies carbon emissions. That's the alternative to densification. I only wish this were 4+ stories instead.

Again, some will quickly complain about greenery, not seeing how much there is all the way down to earlwood! Either way, i never understand anyone having a whinge about anyones property while they dont help pay the home loan. U want a say, pay the loan with me. Also, tree conscious greenies forget their own home is built with timber and concrete.

Ps this actual house i was going to buy it, its gum trees are infested and dangerous to the occupants and their families and need to be cut, also roots on the edge of a cliff and will fall!

Another lovely old federation era home to be bulldozed for a giant concrete monstrosity. And what will replace the large established trees at the rear of the property that contribute to the city's green canopy? These type of developments make an absolute joke of any 'green' credentials this council claims.

Retention of front part of the lower ground level and construction of a part three (3) and part two (2) storey ice-skating rink and commercial premises operating 6:00am -12 midnight seven (7) days a week with associated parking and signage

Sydney desperately needs this rink for recreation and competitive ice sports. It can’t come soon enough!
I’m thrilled to see these plans. Well done to those who are working on providing Sydney figure and hockey skaters another place to train and another place that I’m sure will inspire many kids to take up the sports. It’s a great location. Can’t wait to see this come to fruition.

Living nearby and utilising the Ice Rink in Alexandria which is always full I think this is a great addition to our local community. It is fantastic to see a business like this being built in a time when most developers want to just knock down buildings and put up apartments. This is actually giving residents a healthy activity to pursue.

This is fantastic news, ignore the closed mindedness of those who say “what a waste”. Sydney has had 2 rinks close and Canterbury still undergoing repairs this couldn't come soon enough. There is a large community of hockey players, figure skaters, speed skaters and general ice skating enthusiasts who are left with hardly any rinks to go to around Sydney area.
Ice hockey is such a great sport that I am surprised more Australians as it has everything we love about sports. It is fast, physical and engaging. My son even wrote his public school speech on “Why we need more ice rinks in Sydney” last year.
Good on you Bayside Council

I think it’s an great idea to have one more rink built in Sydney with Sydney losing two rinks last year ice time is very hard to gain
