Loftus Crescent and nearby roads are increasingly dangerous for existing residents. In the past year, with the multiple apartment blocks being constructed in a 1km radius, vehicles are constantly parked illegally from Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm along Loftus Crescent, Loftus Lane and Subway Crescent. The lack of pedestrian paths mean residents must walk on the roads while vehicles (often heavy construction vehicles or from the local demolition and car businesses) drive at high speeds. There is also inadequate lighting in the evenings.
Developers need to consider pathways for all residents (not just gated communities) to walk along these roads, and councils should be more proactive in adding speed humps, safety mirrors and lights.
