From the Google maps photo there are two significant sized trees on this block. One of the left boundary may be a Pine, if so we have no objection. However there is also a very tall healthy canopy tree at the rear which appears to be a eucalypt of some species. Evident in street view above the dwelling.
Croydon Conservation Society objects to the removal of this tree, as it is a habitat tree, also providing climate moderation in terms of being a wind break, providing shade from heat, and preventing frost to plants that are understory.
Our green and leafy Maroondah has an obligation to continue to keep mature trees. Replacement with mid sized trees leaves about a 30 year gap in the canopy of the area In fact, given no one monitors replacement trees, they may be removed after new residents move in, this is not uncommon.
