We are concerned about safety around the bus stop. Algester Road is heavily congested even worse in mornings around school times. Cars backed up right past our house. We find it difficult to pull out of our driveway now. We sometimes have to park in shopping centre due to people parking out side our house.
Cars often crash across from us as they are supposed to move into one lane. How will people be able to get in and out of the purposed child care safely. Not a good position to build a child care centre.

Hi all

I know there is a need for child care but perhaps there is a more appropriate place for the safety of the Children.

We have lived in this area for nearly 20 years with the traffic growing each year.

This is a main road and to have children in this area would be extremely dangerous.

We already struggle to get out of Bannockburn sometimes and turn left and go down to the roundabout to go down Algester Road.

Sorry just my opinion and think this would be a poor decision if this submission went ahead.

Sadly a disaster in the making.

Firstly I query the need for yet another childcare centre in Parkinson as we already have 4. A Community with approximately 600 children under 4 (and certainly many who do not require childcare). Presumably the plan is to get children from out of the area to fill the places.

But the biggest concern here is safety.
With 3 lanes ,(2 Algester Rd South and left turn from Nottingham) combining to 1 lane just prior to these driveways right where pedestrians cross to Drake's etc (they rarely use the crossing further along,) bus stop, bike lane, actual crossing plus it's concrete barriers and resident vehicles parked, I am very surprised no one has been killed here already. Add to that people U turning at Bannockburn to get to homes/Drake's along the section and all the rat runners from South of Parkinson who use Algester Rd, the residents living on it off Bannockburn already have to often move out blind and sit in the median to get out in peak periods, often then needing to brake quickly due to pedestrian crossing.

The added traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian is asking for a tragedy.

Hi there council planers.

Just a further comment to my last .

2 days ago while travelling down Algester Road I had a child run out in front of me to catch a bus forcing me to come to a complete stop lucky no cars behind me.

This is an accident in the making.

Before this is approved why is there a child care centre in Sunnybank opposite the school which has remained closed for the last 2 years.

I guess a further question would be with all the development happening in the area why are developers not setting aside a section off the development for a child care centre to support the area they are developing.

A futher accident 2 weeks ago outside the proposed development.
Have spoken to many local residents outside our home. Which is opposite the proposed development, who are in disbelief that developers are wanting to build anything on a congested main road, beside a bus stop and merging lane from the roundabout.
It will be an accident waiting to happen !!!
Our concerns with this development are as follows.
1. Concerns for safety of School children crossing to the shopping centre, due to increased traffic distracting drivers merging in the bottle neck outside the development.
2. I have supplied several videos from our front security cameras to the QPS for the major accidents outside the development caused from merging traffic. The most recent a bus wiping out a parked car 2 weeks ago.
3. Increased likelihood of more accidents for drivers at Bannockburn intersection due to extra traffic at peak pick up times.
4. Crossing the road will be more dangerous because of extra congestion for all residents.
5. Already 4 child centres in our area. Any extra should be built in a safe location away from merging traffic and bus stops.
BCC hoping you can recognise the safety implications surrounding the location of this development and help us to keep our area safe for all the people crossing to the shopping centre and driving from the roundabout past the proposed child care centre.
thanks
