The rear of this property (that sits on Hickory St) contains a significant tree, the canopy of which provides a refuge for a large number of native birds including black cockatoos. It would be a great shame to see this destroyed. Any development should endeavour to protect this environmental asset. Additionally, there is already insufficient parking for residents on Hickory Street (which this property backs on to) due to the large number of airbnb and second dwellings developments that have been build in the rear gardens of the South Terrace fronting-side of Hickory St, property owners have converted their garages to accommodation so reduced their own parking options and doubled the number of cars needing to park, there is also additional strain on the street parking due to the development of more bars and restaurants along South Terrace, as well as South Beach and CAT bus park and riders, so any residential development should consider how to avoid putting additional parking and environmental strain on this small street.

I fully agree, trees which provide home, shelter and food for birds should be protected. Trees create a better climate for us humans, too. They cool down air in summer and provide us with shade and much needed oxygen.
Thank you for keeping significant trees in our community.
