This is a residential street and these buildings are protected by a heritage overlay which contributes to the look and feel of the streetscape and plays a role in maintaining a link to the rich history of the Edgevale rd precinct.

There is no unmet need for retail and or cafe premises in this area and this kind of development in a quiet residential area represents completely inappropriate use of the land. This area is well served for retail and cafes with Glenferrie rd just a short distance away and Kupid at the other end of the street. The request for a waiver on parking will make an already stretched residential parking area impossible for residents of the street. This is a completely inappropriate request and should absolutely be refused. There are too many recent examples of heritage overlays being disregarded in this street. It’s having a terribly negative impact on the area and sends a dreadful message to developers that compliance is optional - heritage overlays must be respected and any development needs to be appropriate for a quiet residential area.
