We would like to object to the proposed development at 33 Dening Street, The Entrance in DA 1066/2021.

We have only just become aware of the DA.

We have not received notification of the DA nor is there a development proposal sign on the property. There has been no community consultation.

We notice objections close today limiting our ability and the ability of others to object.

Nevertheless, we strongly object to the construction of a proposed 24 unit boarding house at 33 Dening Street, The Entrance.

Notwithstanding its R3 zoning, the block is only 825 m2, currently with only three apartments with three car parks.

Such a proposal would have an adverse impact on the elderly citizens in the nearby residences through noise and increased traffic. It is simply too large for that site to be compatible with the local community.

The number of proposed car parks on site is inadequate.

This will result in an overflow of street parking causing increased noise seriously impacting the quality of life of nearby residents, in particular, the senior citizens.

Children use the playground adjoining the proposed development and the excessively large facility would pose a risk to the children's safe enjoyment of the park. Children play and practice sport in the adjoining park.

As mentioned above, we have received no notification of this proposal and formally request an extension of the time for objections and increased consultation with local residents.

We are owners of an apartment across the road at 13/49-50 Dening Avenue, The Entrance.

Our emails are p.beattie@uq.edu.au and heatherjoybeattie@gmail.com

We have not made any donations to any councillor.

Thanks for your consideration.

Your faithfully,

Peter and Heather Beattie.

Well said Peter and Heather, your points are justily valid.
This development would not be of value to The Entrance and should not proceed.

We as residents of The Entrance do not want anymore boarding houses or affordable housing , enough we are hard working people who will be surrounded by cheap housing , this is never a good idea has failed before will
Again , council needs to
Stop building that’s cheap
Accomodations , I object ,

It concerns me that there is a suggestion for so much social housing in The Entrance. This is the second alert I have received in a week for social housing. The lack of job prospects and decent public transport do not support social housing. I also concur with the comments of Peter and Heather Beattie.

I do not understand why the Council is supporting this proposed boarding house on this site. I appose this proposed development and ask the following questions:
1) Why were local residents not informed of this development?
2) Is the Council contributing financially to this Development?
3) How will Council ensure the safety and well being and amenity of: young people and young families who use the adjoining park; sporting teams who use the park; young people who walk past this site on the way to the beach; elderly people who live around this site and walk or mobility scooter past this site to grocery shop and attend Doctors appointments?
4) How will 13 parking spots accommodate cars for 24 units?
This is a quiet area with a high percentage of retirees and elderly people in residence. It is a popular spot with young families and tourists visiting on the weekend and any development should be supporting this demographic.
I have not made a donation or a gift to a Councillor

I live across the road and never received a letter, neither did any neighbour I know. Only found out about it yesterday. Absolutely ridiculous. No way this will be going ahead. Tell the developer to put 24 rooms on a house block across the road from his house instead
