The number of requests for reduction in car parking requirements is disturbing indeed. One only has to look at developments in Boroondara where the number of motor vehicles exceeds the number allocated to the development and the overflow is per mantle parked in surrounding streets. I hope this request is not granted.

Exactly. It appears that the requirement for parking limitation is always challenged. With people using cars more now, to avoid public transport, our streets will have to cope with parked cars even more. This development is in an area with narrow streets and access by council vehicles for rubbish collections and other maintenance vehicles will be a nightmare. Let alone access for local residents.

This high rise development was approved in 2017 so its a ‘done-deal’. Seven storey development with reduction in car parking is a disgrace. Parking in Camberwell is at a premium - even in 2hr car parking spot when you can find one (who can get their shopping done and their hair done in 2hrs really!). It is not the council that has the authority they work to the guidelines set by The Minister for Planning (Richard Wynne). Write to Mr Wynne MP, he has it in for Boroondara and loves giving approval for guideline for reduction in car parking and demolition of our heritage homes. It’s a sad sad area now.
If only the constituents of Boroondara could see what is happening as a result of ‘reduction in car parking’.
