Thank you for the opportunity to comment on this application. Whilst we support business development in principal, we feel that converting this existing business into a service station will make a congested and already hazardous corner much more so.
Within the space of 100m between the junction of Redfern and Lachlan Streets and the first bend in Redfern Street travelling west, there is another road junction where the low level bridge access meets Redfern St, plus entrances into the Australian Hotel, Super Cheap and All Service Motors. Traffic is travelling in both directions, with both left and right hand turns permitted into all these places. Trucks particularly have difficulty negotiating this stretch of roadway, especially B doubles, and especially when turning from Redfern into Lachlan St and thence Kendal St. To add considerably more traffic movement entering and exiting the All Service Motors site when it is converted to a fuel outlet will simply cause more chaos. Also, when the new low level bridge development gets under way, will any of those development options impact this particularly worrying area?
