We object to this development as it will directly impact impact local business and employment. Black Rock is a small local village which definitely could not support a large scale liquor outlet without decimating local businesses.

Having watched our local traders struggle over the last year, I am disappointed that a large corporate has chosen to apply for a liquor licence in Black Rock Village. There are already three liquor stores in the Village, each of whom will be negatively impacted in the event the liquor licence is granted.
Furthermore, as a parent, it troubles me greatly to have so many liquor stores in such a small area. It sends a poor message to young children and teenagers.

I object to another bottleshop in Black Rock. We already have 3 shops selling alcohol and this is just another monopoly pushing our much appreciated small business owners out. This will also be significantly detrimental to the variety of shops in this small village shopping strip.
As a rate paying property owner & resident of Black Rock for more than 10yrs I'm adamantly opposed to the proposal of a large, chain, liquor outlet in our small shopping village. With a total population of just over 6,000 (2016 Census), and the fact that we already have three other licenced retailers selling alcohol, there is absolutely no need for such a large retailer in such a small village.
The proposal will undoubtedly have a significant negative impact on these other retailers. BR Village is predominantly made up of small independently owned, businesses with local owners who have direct ties to the community. Any potential employment opportunities created by this large liquor giant will be immediately offset by damage to other small businesses. And we certainly don't want to start attracting excessive traffic to our small village, which is already short on parking. We'd much prefer the scarce parking go to customers of other small local businesses.
There is a Dan Murphy's with a substantial parking lot in the neighbouring suburb only 4km away. The proposal is completely unnecessary and flies in the face of the message families & educators are trying to reinforce with young people about responsible drinking. Totally appalled by this proposal! Will definitely be boycotting the premises and suggesting other community minded BR residents do the same.
We object another liquor store in our little village. To directly impact the other 3 already there is a horrendous move, especially given the struggle over the pandemic.
3 is enough - give another business a go.
There are three bottle shops in Black Rock shopping village. There are no grounds in any town planning regulations to justify a fourth.
Inconsistent with small village with coffee culture. Would convey wrong impression and will not serve needs of community.

This application has been rejected 3 times. Why are we here again? The practices of Endeavour by repeatedly applying should speak volumes of the immoral and unethical approach by this organisation that peddles in alcohol sales, sending the wrong message to minors is this family friendly community, not to mention the social and economic impact that alcohol has on family's.
Surely it does NOT need to be continuously repeated as to why residents of Black Rock keep saying no. Have you seen Black Rock shops or comparable villages in Victoria? What other examples are there of a national big box alcohol retailer operating in such a village that is already being serviced by 3 alcohol retailers, when Endeavour (Dan Murphy's) already has a super-store less than 4km's away? There is no reason those that want a Dan Murphy's will not travel less than 5 minutes away to attend this outlet.
Enough is enough with this lunacy of continual applications and put in a business or service that promotes something positive, not drunkenness and negative behaviour which communities are sick of.
This application has already been rejected 3 times. Why are we seeing this again?? Surely council has heard by now the locals’ objections and reasons…. We are a small village with 3 existing liquor shops. This brings no value to our village and there is no need for this large company to move in and damage our local businesses. This is also sending the wrong message to our young people in this family friendly community, not to mention the social and economic impact that alcohol has on families.
Please reject this application and allow more valuable use of this space.
I am disappointed. The community has spoken. Having access to local strip shops that meet community needs is important to those members who cannot travel far and to the community in general if we are to reduce food km and shop more sustainably.
We have 3 bottle shops already and that in itself is more than adequate. What message do we want to send the local youth? There is already a Dan murphy within the broader neighbourhood.
This shop would better serve our community is it sold bulk ingredients or some other product/business that would serve the community well.
