I object to the proposal for further development in Marquet Street. Rhodes already has enough developments and is already densely populated so it does not need additional buildings, especially not a 16-storey building. It is very concerning to see the pace and scale of new constructions in recent years. The Council should prioritise the quality of life for residents rather than just trying to squeeze in more people into every available space. Listen to the concerns of residents, such as those submissions already made. We need more open, green spaces, especially between buildings. Having more buildings will mean more noises echoing between buildings, increased traffic, greater congestion on public transport, additional pollution and less privacy. The first stage of this development should be rejected. Otherwise once this first stage is approved, we are effectively locked into future stages of development.
